About Us

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Bay Point Yacht Club Incorporated is to encourage the sport of yachting, with emphasis on safety and proper boat handling, as well as to provide for the pleasure and social activities of its members. Generally, the club exercises all the powers, privileges and immunitiesof a not-for-profit corporation incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida.

HISTORY OF OUR CLUB

On October 16th, 1986, Bay Point Yacht Club Incorporated officially received its charter from the state of Florida. As part of the Bay Point complex, the yacht club converted the former poolside/dockside snack bar (part of the community’s Yacht & Country Club) into a thriving yachting facility.

During the club’s first years, members engaged in numerous cruises along the gulf coast of Florida and held monthly social events.  Christmas and the 4th of July boat parades were events to look forward to as members decorated their yachts/boats for the cruise through North Lagoon.

In 1988, the club became a member of the Gulf Yachting Association and participated over the next seven years in the Flying Scots regattas.  As the club grew, its sailing focus declined.

The club is an associate member of Yacht Clubs of America and a member of the Stars Register of Clubs and Flags.

In 2000, the club realized that it needed more space and wanted to own its own facility.   The club purchased and renovated the former Bay Point Marina Office building.  This is its present location.  Due to damage from Hurricane Michael that struck the area in 2018, new plans are in the works to build a new facility in the near future.  In the meantime, the club continues to function in its present location instilling in its membership the love of boating and cruising the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
